To make it easier for you, I keep an in-house pharmacy at my veterinary practice in Vienna. This allows me to provide you with the medications your pet needs right away, saving you the often inconvenient trip to a pharmacy—where veterinary pharmaceuticals are frequently not in stock.
VETERINARY SERVICES
TIERARZTPARXIS LANDSTRASSE - WIEN 1030
Preventive health exams are recommended for large dog breeds starting at age six, smaller dog breeds starting at age eight, and cats starting at age ten. These exams include a thorough general check-up, blood tests, and, if necessary, urine and fecal analysis, as well as blood pressure measurement. For further examinations, such as cardiac and abdominal ultrasounds, I will be happy to refer you to ultrasound specialists in my area. At my veterinary practice in 1030 Vienna, I will be happy to advise you.
Dogs ...
Puppies should receive their first round of core vaccinations against distemper, parvovirus, leptospirosis, hepatitis, and kennel cough starting between six to eight weeks of age.
- Puppies younger than 12 weeks at the time of their first vaccination should receive a three-dose primary vaccination series, with each dose administered four weeks apart.
- Puppies older than 12 weeks at the time of their first vaccination only require two doses.
The primary vaccination course is completed after a booster shot one year later.
Afterward:
- Leptospirosis requires an annual booster.
- Distemper, hepatitis, and parvovirus require a booster every three years.
Rabies vaccination can be administered starting from 12 weeks of age. The first booster is required one year later, followed by boosters every three years.

Cats ...
Kittens should receive their first vaccination against feline panleukopenia (cat distemper) and cat flu starting from the eighth week of life, followed by the second vaccination of the primary immunization series four weeks later. After one year, they should receive a booster vaccination.
Afterward, annual vaccinations against cat flu and vaccinations against feline panleukopenia every three years are recommended.
If the cat has contact with other cats or is a free-roaming cat, vaccinations against feline leukemia (Leukose) and feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) are also recommended.
- Feline leukemia can be vaccinated starting from the ninth week of life.
- FIP can be vaccinated starting from the 16th week of life.
For both vaccinations, a second dose three to four weeks later and annual boosters are necessary to maintain immunity.
The rabies vaccination is only necessary for free-roaming cats and when traveling abroad with the pet. It is administered starting from the 16th week of life and requires a booster every three years.

Rabbits ...
Rabbits that are allowed outdoors should be vaccinated once a year in the spring against:
- Myxomatosis
- Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease 1 (RHD1)
- Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease 2 (RHD2)

In my veterinary practice in Vienna, we perform dental treatments for:
- Cats
- Dogs
- Small mammals (rodents)

In my veterinary practice in Vienna, we perform various soft tissue surgeries, such as:
- Spaying and neutering
- Removal of minor tumors
For fractures or other surgeries that cannot be performed in our practice, we will refer you to a surgical veterinary clinic.

To diagnose conditions in the field of internal medicine, I rely on a detailed patient history and a thorough clinical examination. Depending on the findings, I use various advanced diagnostic methods, such as:
- Blood tests
- Urine or fecal analysis
- X-rays
- Ultrasound
For some time now, electronic identification has been a legal requirement for dogs. Cats and other pets that roam freely outdoors or travel abroad should also be microchipped.
The rice grain-sized transponder is injected under the skin on the left side of the neck using a needle. The procedure is quick, simple, and painless for the animal.
The chip can be read at any time using a special scanner. The unique code is registered in a central database. Animal shelters, animal welfare organizations, and many veterinarians have such scanners. If a chipped and registered pet is found, the owner can be quickly identified—even across national borders—through a pet registry.

For travel within the EU, the EU pet passport is a necessary document. It includes the following information for clear identification:
- The microchip number of the pet
- All vaccinations received, especially the mandatory rabies vaccination
- Possibly deworming treatments
To confirm a diagnostic suspicion, it is often necessary to:
- Take a blood sample
- Conduct urine or fecal tests
- Take a skin scraping
- Perform a biopsy
Urine tests can be carried out directly in my veterinary practice in Vienna. For specialized tests, we send the samples to a nearby laboratory, which usually provides us with the results on the same day or the next day.

Unfortunately, my X-ray machine is currently not available. If such examinations are necessary, I will be happy to refer you to a nearby practice that also performs endoscopy and computed tomography (CT). </p
X-ray examinations are an essential diagnostic tool, especially for diseases of the skeletal system. Fractures, inflammations, or degenerative bone changes can be visualized with unparalleled precision using this method.
Chest X-rays can detect early pathological changes in the heart and lungs. Particularly in middle-aged animals, serious heart conditions often go unnoticed for too long without this examination.
By administering contrast fluids, it is also possible to better visualize foreign bodies in the gastrointestinal tract.
Homeopathic remedies can be used to support the body's natural healing processes for all types of illnesses.
They can be administered alone or in combination with other medications.
In my veterinary practice, I have had positive experiences using homeopathy for chronic conditions, such as:
- Kidney and liver insufficiency
- Joint diseases
- Chronic inflammations
In veterinary medicine, dietary management plays a central role in the treatment of many diseases. Prescription diets can help reduce or even compensate for certain metabolic weaknesses in the body. These diets are specifically formulated to address expected health issues.
Dietary food should only be used after a precise diagnosis and under ongoing veterinary supervision. It is particularly beneficial for conditions such as:
- Kidney disease
- Liver disease
- Heart disease
- Skin conditions
- Obesity
- Urinary stones
- Diabetes mellitus
- Gastrointestinal disorders

For these services, we have specialized consulting veterinarians available by appointment.
I am happy to offer house calls in the 3rd district of Vienna. The team at Tierarztpraxis Landstraße in Vienna will be pleased to assist you with scheduling an appointment.

In my veterinary practice, I also treat small mammals, such as:
- Guinea pigs
- Rabbits
- Rats
- Mice </ul
I will be happy to advise you on the care and disease prevention for your pets. A key focus of the examination is on their dental health!
